One report. India rankings sourced from NIRF 2025. Global rankings built on open academic and employment outcome data. Scored per stream. Filtered to you. No ads, no sponsored listings.
A composite score built using our proprietary stream-specific methodology. We disclose the dimensions and their relative weights; the exact scoring formula is proprietary and updated annually.
Placements, research, affordability, campus experience, and international exposure — each scored separately so you can sort by what matters to you.
If you have a Focus or Compass report, your Holland Code and direction pre-sort colleges by fit — matched institutions surface first.
NIRF 2025 data for Indian institutions. Open academic and employment outcome data for international universities. Same scoring methodology applied across both.
Ranked by course, not university. A college ranked #1 for Computer Science may rank #18 for Mechanical — you see what's actually relevant to your direction.

Scope: All programmes listed are undergraduate (UG) courses with direct entry after Class 12, ranging from 3 to 5.5 years in duration. Postgraduate programmes (requiring a prior degree for entry) are not included. This is a curated list of institutions selected for relevance, data quality, and student demand — not an exhaustive directory of every college in India or internationally. What this report does not include: admissions cutoff predictions, seat availability, counselling round strategies, or career advice. StreamWise College Rankings are a data intelligence product — we hand you the scores and the data; the decision is yours. For admissions process guidance, consult a registered counsellor.
Every institution is scored on the same set of dimensions — but the weights assigned to each dimension vary by stream, because what matters for a PCM student heading into engineering is genuinely different from what matters for an Arts student heading into design or policy. A single generic rubric applied to all colleges and all students is precisely what we set out to replace. We disclose the dimensions we score on and their relative weights. The exact formula that converts raw institutional data into each dimension's 0–100 score is proprietary and updated annually as new data becomes available.
| Dimension | What we measure | Weight |
|---|---|---|
| Placements | Median package, placement rate, recruiter diversity (NIRF / official disclosures) | 30% |
| Research output | Publications in indexed journals, patents filed, research funding (OpenAlex / NIRF) | 25% |
| Affordability | Annual fee relative to median starting salary of graduates from that programme | 20% |
| Campus experience | Student-faculty ratio, infrastructure, clubs, sports (NIRF / official) | 15% |
| International exposure | Exchange programmes, international faculty, foreign student ratio | 10% |
Score floor: Institutions with placement disclosure covering fewer than 60% of the graduating batch are capped at 50/100 — incomplete data is itself a signal worth surfacing.
| Dimension | What we measure | Weight |
|---|---|---|
| Accreditation & recognition | NMC recognition, NAAC grade, regulatory standing (official bodies) | 35% |
| Clinical / practical exposure | Hospital bed strength, patient load, lab infrastructure, internship structure | 25% |
| Research output | Publications, PG research programmes, faculty research activity (OpenAlex / NIRF) | 20% |
| Affordability | Annual fee relative to typical starting compensation in the relevant health career track | 15% |
| Campus experience | Student-faculty ratio, hostel, infrastructure | 5% |
Score floor: Institutions without current NMC recognition for medical programmes are capped at 30/100. Allied health institutions without NAAC accreditation are capped at 45/100. Veterinary Science: Institutions not recognised by the Veterinary Council of India (VCI) are excluded entirely from the dataset — VCI recognition is a non-negotiable minimum for practice in India.
| Dimension | What we measure | Weight |
|---|---|---|
| Placements | Median CTC, placement rate, recruiter quality — Big 4, top banks, corporates (official disclosures) | 40% |
| Industry connections | Live projects, internship pipeline, alumni network quality, guest faculty from practice | 25% |
| Affordability | Annual fee relative to median first-year CTC of placed graduates | 20% |
| Campus experience | Student-faculty ratio, diversity, clubs, case competition culture | 10% |
| Research output | Publications, working papers, faculty research activity | 5% |
Score floor: Institutions with fewer than 3 consecutive years of publicly available placement data are capped at 55/100 — consistency matters as much as peak numbers.
| Dimension | What we measure | Weight |
|---|---|---|
| Industry connections & portfolio exposure | Alumni in active practice, industry jury access, live briefs, exhibition/publication opportunities | 30% |
| Portfolio & creative output | Visible student work, competition wins, faculty with active professional practice | 25% |
| Affordability | Annual fee relative to realistic first-year income in the relevant creative or public service track | 25% |
| Campus experience | Studio/lab facilities, creative culture, peer cohort quality | 15% |
| Research output | Published faculty work, institutional research activity | 5% |
Score floor: Institutions where faculty have no documented active professional practice in the relevant field are capped at 50/100 — in creative fields, who teaches matters as much as what is taught.
| Dimension | What we measure | Weight |
|---|---|---|
| Faculty & academic culture | Faculty with active research / publishing record, peer reputation, interdisciplinary teaching quality | 30% |
| Graduate outcomes | Progression to competitive exams (UPSC/civil services), postgraduate programmes, corporate / media / NGO placements | 25% |
| Affordability | Annual fee relative to realistic first-year income in humanities-linked careers | 25% |
| Campus experience & peer culture | Intellectual culture, debate/cultural societies, library quality, diversity of student cohort | 15% |
| Research output | Faculty publications, institutional research activity in social sciences and humanities | 5% |
Score note: Humanities placements are harder to track than engineering or law — many graduates enter civil services, academia, or journalism where starting salaries are low but long-term impact and career trajectory are high. Affordability is weighted equally with outcomes because the cost-to-career ratio is a real and valid consideration for this stream. Institutions without any publicly verifiable placement or outcome data are flagged.

Your Holland Code and stream direction from a prior Focus or Compass report pre-sort colleges — institutions with strong outcomes in your specific direction appear higher. Colleges are never hidden; only the order changes. A student with code RI in Science (PCM) → Applied Tech sees engineering colleges with strong CS/applied placements ranked first, ahead of equally-scored institutions with a weaker fit.
You select your stream, course preference, budget range, city, institution type, and priority manually. StreamWise Score default sort applies. All colleges remain visible — no personalised weighting, but all filters fully functional.
